If you are a Toronto Blue Jays fan under the age of 30, I’m sorry.

I know it’s been a rough ride. For the most part, young Jays fans don’t have any memories of Joe Carter touchin’ ‘em all, and have had to endure years of painfully mediocre teams, often plagued by injury and bad luck.

This isn’t to say that there haven’t been moments of hope throughout the years, however. From the days of Roy Halladay and Vernon Wells to the promising Anthopolous-built lineups of 2015 and 2016, Jays fans have had valid reasons to be excited. …

It seems that every time I turn on an NHL game or make one of my many daily visits to the addicting cesspool of NHL Twitter, I find myself questioning what dimension I’m living in.

Let’s just take some inventory;

-Erik Karlsson is struggling to score more than a pimply high-schooler. (On a stable, offence-focused team.)

-Despite the occasional IR visit, Roberto Luongo is still managing to stiff-arm Father Time.

-This skinny Elias Petterson kid doesn’t look too shabby.

-Mike Smith looks to be in serious danger of losing his job.

-Joel ‘The ‘Stache’ Quenneville is unemployed.

Not since the fleeting days of the heartbreaking 2011 season has the Vancouver hockey market been this positive, and that is a sentence that will come as welcome news to both players and fans.
